Not so long ago, there was a secret coup in Heaven. The war resulted in an angel being earthbound for 33 days. During that time, spiritually wounded, he lived with a human family. Having not walked the earth for 2,525 years, the world was new to him.
There are four gates in Heaven that separate Heaven, Earth, and Hell. These leftover fissures are guarded by five of God's most unusual creations, the Ashante. These five beings, not wholly angelic and not wholly flesh and blood, are able to operate outside of God's ordinance. Their powers and abilities are vast and are drawn directly from God's throne, where the Storehouse of Souls also rests.
The Ashante, four of them, stand guard at this gate, powerful, ever vigilant beings. Their leader, Vir, a huge persona likened to a Great Snowy Owl, commands God's breath in the form of a great frost. The gates are guarded by Eoleon, Adam, Cinnibar, and Zadkiel, who is the youngest and newest of the Ashante. Only in existence for about 2,525 Earth years, Vir is proud of Zadkiel's progress. His gate, the Alabaster Forest, stands at the fourth and smallest gate. Zadkiel commands God's Living Lightning through an equally ancient artifact, the Lance of Lonjinus.
It was through this gate, guarded by the newest of these guardians, that the coup began, orchestrated by one of Hell's kings, Anaton, and his mistress, Analista. The resulting battle left Zadkiel spiritually wounded, forcing him to retreat to Earth to heal sealing his gate behind him. Exactly the situation Anaton wanted, he and Analista followed the wounded, heavily burdened host to Earth, wreaking havoc and chaos to force Zadkiel from cover.
The modern Earth, although abundant in technological wonders, there was still the presence of sin. Innate in man, this sin transformed to embed itself in all aspects of this new age. Puzzled by this phenomenon, he studied it in depth. He kept a diarya journal of sorts, of each day he spent with human beings.
These writings came from direct experience, while others were from imparted divine inspiration. In a cluttered attic in China Grove, North Carolina, bound in old soft leather, lies this living journal you now hear. Being a Living Journal, it is not resolute, but bound to your own interpretation and inspiration. These are the angel's words as he wrote and meditated on them; these are the writings of the Angel of Forgiveness, the Journal of Zadkiel.
