Barbara Foley is Emerita Distinguished Professor of English at Rutgers University-Newark, having retired from teaching in 2019. She is Associate Editor at the Marxist journal Science & Society and remains active in the Radical Caucus of the MLA (Modern Language Association) and the Marxist Literary Group. She is the author of, among titles, Marxist Literary Criticism Today (2019), Wrestling with the Left: The Making of Ralph Ellison's Invisible Man (2010), and Telling the Truth: The Theory and Practice of Documentary Fiction (1986). She currently divides her time between New Jersey and Rome, Italy.
