This lack of knowledge leaves us vulnerable in a century when we are surrounded by intelligent men and women who profess no faith, adhere to other ancient faiths, or embrace a version of the Christian faith that bears little resemblance to the historic faith of the church. If we are not to be like children, tossed to and from by every wind of doctrine, then we must grapple with our Christian beliefs. This is even more important given that what we believe often determines how we behave. If we want to lead good, holy and useful lives, we must look to the creed which shapes our conduct."
