Zusammenfassung

Gorlas Blackmoor has a thousand problems, with no solutions in sight.

As the scion of the powerful Blackmoor clan, he's the face of a new generation of dragons?but he can't shift. Most of the dragon clans lost the ability to shift years ago, and those who could change form were hunted for their scales. His family decides that the surest way to bring dragons back is for Gorlas to marry a strong shifter so his children will be dragons, and negotiated a meeting between him and a princess from the gryphon kingdom. This princess would be his ideal wife: beautiful, strong, and a shifter.

The only problem is that Gorlas's heart belongs to another: Liliana Seaward, a stunning and headstrong selkie from the local pod.

Liliana Seaward has known dragons all her life, and paid them no mind. As the daughter of the selkie clan chief she has always been in her family's shadow. Now she wants to create a life of her own, if only she knew what she wanted to do with it. As she struggles to find her place in the world she comes across her best friend's dour older brother?but Gorlas isn't the quiet boy she remembers. He's grown into a warrior, and the pull she feels toward him is as undeniable as it is inconvenient.

Things don't go smoothly for the dragon and the selkie, but further complicating matters is a pirate ship moored near the selkie village. They learn that the pirates are hunting selkies for their pelts, but they've also taken a special interest in Gorlas's family?and these pirates aren't the sort to give up easily.

The Blackmoors are nothing if not warriors, and assume they will easily rout this latest threat. What no one expects is a betrayal that wounds them so deeply, they may never recover.

The Dragon and the Selkie is a story about love, betrayal, and finding your true self.

Jennifer Allis Provost writes books about faeries, orcs and elves. Zombies, too. She grew up in the wilds of Western Massachusetts and had read every book in the local library by age twelve. (It was a small library.) An early love of mythology and folklore led to her epic fantasy series, The Chronicles of Parthalan, and her day job as a cubicle monkey helped shape her urban fantasy, Copper Girl. When she's not writing about things that go bump in the night (and sometimes during the day) she's working on her MFA in Creative Nonfiction.
