Carlos Tablada Pérez (Havana, 1948). Doctor of Philosophy (1995). PhD in Economic Sciences (1986). Bachelor of Arts in Sociology (1974). Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy (1970). Full professor and full researcher. He has lectured seminars and master's and doctoral courses in 155 universities in 35 countries of Latin America, North America, Europe and Africa. Tablada was awarded the 1987 Casa de las Americas Prize for his book El pensamiento económico de Ernesto Che Guevara (Che Guevara's Economic Thought). It has been published in 48 editions in 12 languages and more than 600,000 copies have been printed to date in North America, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Member of the jury for the 1992 Casa de las Américas Award; and member of the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC). Tablada has participated in several international academic and United Nations (UN) events. He has been invited by Latin American, British, European governments and parliaments, as well as cultural, social, trade union and religious institutions from five continents. For 32 years, Tablada has worked in two offices of the Secretariat of the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba (1976-2008), as economic director of the Empresa de Producciones Varias (EMPROVA, 1976-1990) and at the Center for Research on the World Economy (CIEM, for its acronym in Spanish). From 1996 to 2004, he worked as Senior Researcher and editor at the Tricontinental Center, Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium. Tablada is the founder and president of RUTH Casa Editorial. He has written and published twenty books, dozens of articles and essays in specialized magazines. He has concluded the second volume of the Historia de la Banca en Cuba, La seudorrepública. He is currently working on the preparation of the third volume.
