city in Kandiyohi County, Minnesota, United States. The population was
157 at the 2010 census. According to the United States Census Bureau,
the city has a total area of 1.0 square mile (2.6 km2), all of it land.
The surrounding topography is marked by flat to slightly rolling fields,
almost all of them farms. Big Kandiyohi Lake lies to the northeast of
the town. U.S. Route 71 and Minnesota State Highway 7 are two of the
main routes in the community. The downtown area of Blomkest spans three
blocks. The main street is host to Erickson Plumbing & Heating
Hardware store, Concorde Bank, post office, the former Blomkest Food
Market, a restaurant under construction, the Blomkest Baptist Church, a
steel construction company, the city park/fire department/community
center & Dyrnwyn Studios, a multimedia production studio.
