The first edition of this book carried the bones of a teaching: five spiritual dimensions, drawn from Scripture, that frame the prophetic ecclesia. This expanded edition keeps every one of those bones and adds sinew, flesh, and breath.
Three streams have been brought in. First, the canon itself is opened wider; we trace the schools of the prophets that gathered around Samuel, Elijah, Elisha, and Isaiah, and we listen to the prophetic voices of the deuterocanonical writings that the early church read and loved. Second, the witness of the first and second centuries is allowed to speak: the Didache, the Shepherd of Hermas, Ignatius of Antioch, Justin Martyr, Irenaeus, and the cautionary story of the so-called New Prophecy. Third, the Hebrew and Greek behind the key words are unpacked, so that the reader hears the texture of the original languages.
A note on how to read it. Part One can be taught straight through as the core curriculum. Part Two is for those who want roots, the history, and the languages beneath the dimensions. Part Three forms the prophet's character and hands. At the back, you will find a Study and Activation Guide, a discernment checklist, a facilitator's guide for teaching this book in a school of the prophets, and a forty-day activation challenge. Use whatever serves the people in front of you.
Read prayerfully. Let the Spirit of Prophecy, who is the testimony of Jesus, make these pages a doorway and not merely a study.
