Franklin W. Dixon is the house name used for the long-running Hardy Boys mystery series, created by the Stratemeyer Syndicate. The early Hardy Boys books were written by a number of ghostwriters working under this shared pseudonym, with the original series helping to define American juvenile detective fiction for much of the twentieth century. Built around the adventures of Frank and Joe Hardy, the sons of detective Fenton Hardy, the books combined mystery, action, danger, travel, hidden criminals, and fast-paced clue-solving in a form that appealed to generations of young readers. The Great Airport Mystery, first published in 1930, belongs to the early run of Hardy Boys adventures and reflects the series' classic blend of youthful courage, suspense, and clean adventure storytelling.
