I've been doing healing work for over thirty years - and more recently, men's work. I've been sitting across from men who are quietly falling apart, holding space in circles where grown men cry for the first time in decades, leading retreats in the mountains of New Mexico and Upstate New York where something cracks open in a man that he didn't even know was sealed shut. And after all of it, I can tell you with complete honesty: this work never ends. Not for the men I sit with. Not for me. That's not a warning. That's an invitation. Because the men who come to me aren't broken.
They're not failures. They're not weak. They're men who can feel - even if they can't quite name it - that there is more to this life than what they've been living. More than the job, the role, the performance. More than the version of themselves they put on every morning like a uniform. They sense it. And they're right.
This book is for those men. It doesn't matter if you're twenty-five or seventy-five. It doesn't matter if you've done a decade of therapy or never once talked about your feelings out loud. If something in you said yes when you picked this up - that's enough. That's the only qualification you need.
*As a side note, some of the men reading the rough draft have asked if their wives and partners can read the book and I'm realizing this book may have benefits for a wider audience than I thought.
