Whiti Ora is a collection of papers presented by Sir Mason Durie that discuss Maori
health in Aotearoa. They are arranged chronologically from 2000 to 2019. Topics covered
include indigenous approaches to mental health, alcohol and drug misuse, psychiatry,
transgenic research, diabetes, suicide, housing and education. The papers also discuss
whanau health, rongoa Maori, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, tino rangatiratanga, the influence
of Te Rangihiroa, Maori contributions to public health in Aotearoa, Maori success, and
contemporary Maori experiences. In the final paper, Mason Durie offers some thoughts
on the future for Maori health.
