This book is the story of my life and those special people who made a tremendous difference. It is dedicated to my grandmother Marie, who was indeed my hero. My dad, Robert, moved to California when I was about 6 years old. We talked on the phone occasionally. My Mother, Mary died of breast cancer when I was 16 years old. However, my grandparents, especially my grandmother, shaped my life. My grandfather paid bills and took care of the house, but my grandmother did all she could to raise me and my brother from the very beginning of our lives. She had two basic and important rules. You will make good grades in school, and you are going to church as long as you live with me. That said, I was blessed to play ball at East Rome High School, and we were State Champions in my Sophomore year. My grades and basketball skills allow me to attend Shorter College in Rome where I receive my first degree as a Communication Major. I went to three colleges and achieved two degrees, and it did not cost me one penny. Second, I went to church every Sunday and throughout the week when there were services. With the help of many church members, I learned to sing in the choir, tutor younger boys, and I wrote plays that we performed. I would help my grandmother deliver and give food in the community to those who needed it most. I cannot mention all that I did involving the church. However, I can tell you that because if it, I entered the ministry at the age of 22 and have served at that capacity for 49 years. My first pastorship was at Zion Hill Baptist church in Rockmart, Georgia for 6 years. I am presently serving at Lovejoy Baptist Church here in Rome, going into my 38th year. The point of this book gives important but simple details and information as to how to live a good and happy life; and to be an encouraging Christian to all. I have truly had a wonderful life, and my better life is coming.
