The urge to begin writing surfaced in the author's mind and heart while working full time on a year-round basis for the National Park Service in the small Alaskan town of Skagway. Skagway was the starting point for the famed Dawson City in Yukon Territory gold rush of 1898. It is the northernmost cruise ship port on the Inside Passage along the Canadian coast. With the influx of millions of Cruise ship visitors along with seasonal employees (historical interpreters), the author's thoughts began being filled with the human condition and how we all interact in different ways regardless of our sex, age, and life's experiences. The author realized that we all share in the same basic human emotions and decided to jot down his own observations and write about them, starting with poetry, for which he is highly regarded. After poetry, he chose to write fiction, because he felt history is so boring and unchangeable anyway. That led to the creation of short stories focusing on our similarities as we long for life's meaning and our hidden secrets, which aren't so hidden after all. The stories in this book are about regular folk who enjoy life to its fullest regardless of challenging situations and IQ levels.
