Lora Ley is a half nixie, half human, who discovers her Nyx side in Book One - Secrets of the Nyx. In Book Two of the series, Lora and her friends travel back to the era of Germanic legend, dragons and heroes on a quest to save the Nibelung treasure and solve a devious mystery. When Wolf and Lora receive a strange parcel, they soon discover it comes from another time, back in the days when Germanic hero Siegfried of Xanten slays a dragon and helps a Burgundian King in very underhanded ways. Lora and Wolf are distracted by an anxious Skoldt, a vegan Norwegian brook horse whose sister is on the way to visit, and a circus traveling through town.
