The Second Grand Crusade was one of the largest and bloodiest wars in the recent history of The Known World. Nearly a decade after, many are trying to recover and make a new life for themselves in the turmoil of the Revolution, such as a young girl named Freya and her father, Kal. The two try to live a simple, peaceful life in their port town. They have to hide their Magic, lest Freya and her father become hunted by the newly empowered Sanctus Venatores and the horrors of Kal's past. The two have managed to stay hidden for some time, but things inevitably change, and not always for the better.
