When Bella suddenly becomes part of the sandwich generation, caught between caring for her young family and her aging in-laws, her Old World sensibilities rebel at the idea that anyone should be forced out of their home and into assisted living. But her husband says the "assist" is as much for them as for his parents. He will not move closer to them, and they won't move out of their present home or stay with Bella and her family, even for their own safety. There's no obvious compromise, and both families' stability is threatened.
