December 30, 2006 has to be the worst day of Coop's life. It begins at six in the morning with him witnessing Saddam Hussein's execution and ends at midnight, with him lying face down in the Baghdad dirt with a bullet in his back.
Nine months after the shooting, back in Washington D.C., Coop is recruited to return to Iraq and search for a rumored stash of Saddam's gold. He accepts the assignment knowing it could ruin his marriage, but hoping it will give him a chance to satisfy his obsession to find the man who shot him.
