Inger-Maria Mahlke spent her childhood between Lübeck in northern Germany and the island of Tenerife. Before devoting herself entirely to writing, she studied law at the Free University of Berlin, where she later worked in the Department of Criminology. José Aníbal Campos graduated in German philology from the University of Havana. In 1999, he was awarded the Translation Prize of the Republic of Austria for the translation and dissemination of contemporary Austrian literature.
