A decade and a half after the death of her adult son, Christopher, mental health nurse and life coach Carol Macey she mustered the courage to share how and what she has processed to cope with her significant loss. Christopher experienced his first psychotic episode aged 19, when Carol was a mature student studying for a degree in nursing. In spite of the best efforts of his friends, family, and a supportive mental health team, Christopher continued to deteriorate over the next ten years until his unfortunate death from liver failure at age 29. The Spirit of Christopher details how Carol and her family coped with the aftermath of his passing, how her training in mental health has helped her cope with her tragic loss, and how the very personal experience influenced Carol to become a better health care provider.
