Steve Copling has spent more than thirty-nine years in law enforcement and corporate security. He currently serves as deputy chief in the Plano, Texas, police department. He is also the author of two crime novels, The Listener and The Shooting Season. His professional
background and knowledge of police procedurals inform his writing, and Copling often draws from his experiences when writing crime fiction.

The Sage Alexander series is his first foray into young adult fantasy and will ultimately comprise seven books based on the seven deadly sins. It was born out of an endearing request from his grandson Sage, who asked Copling to write him a book for Christmas. His ultimate goal with this series is simply to
write stories that his six grandchildren will love reading

He and his wife of forty-two years live
in the Dallas area.
