About the authors
Mythili and Lakshminarayanan (SLN as he is affectionately nicknamed) were married in the year 1970. After forty years of togetherness, raising a family with two independent minded daughters, Mythili passed on in 2011 leaving her husband to continue captaining their ship. Their relationship was peppered with intellectual pursuits, a shared love for writing, voracious reading, strong political convictions and so much more. Mythili was diagnosed with a chronic lung disorder and her husband fought against God and destiny to save her but it was not to be. With oxygen machines and ventilators strapped on 24 hours, Mythili continued to write with passion, encouraged and supported by SLN whom she always described as 'my friend, philosopher and guide'. Her writings centre on the Indian family, love and the famous Indian quality of ádjustment'.
SLN with over forty years' experience in fertiliser marketing, retired in 1997 as vice president Commercial of a big industrial group in India. He has been an active blogger since retirement. Born the eldest of ten children in a yet to be liberated India, SLN has played the roles of a responsible son and protective elder brother with aplomb but it was with Mythili's serene companionship that he achieved his best in life.
This collection of stories and articles reflect decades of life experiences that will enrich the mind and provide delightful and touching glimpses of a modern yet traditional India. It is a salute from a husband to his cherished wife.
