Jeanette Gower has been breeding Australian Stock Horses for over 55 years in South Australia under the Chalani prefix. Together with her daughter, Kim, the stud has enjoyed considerable success throughout Australia. Jeanette taught adult Equine Studies for 19 years and has written numerous articles for equine magazines. Jeanette's experience with dogs began at a young age. At just eight years old, she was attending obedience classes with her first Shetland Sheepdog. That early love for training and connection with all animals continued through life. She has bred an Australian Champion Shetland Sheepdog and raised a joyful variety of dogs over the years, including Italian Greyhounds, Cattle Dogs, retired Greyhounds, and a lively Dachshund or two.As a writer, she's known for her clear, calm voice and her ability to make complex topics practical and readable. This background brings a grounded credibility to her work with animals and a steady hand to everything she writes.In 1999, she wrote the widely acclaimed book "Horse Colour Explained". Horses are her passion, and she shares that passion with her readers.I have judged horses at local shows, right through to Royals and Nationals and done workshops in almost every state of Australia.She writes passionately about horsey topics, with a no-holds barred, practical approach, reflecting on her own experiences.
